Why a Libra in Love Keeps Saying “Either Is Fine”

Libras are easy to agree with in love and always the first to apologize, but say “either is fine” long enough and their own wants start to go quiet.

IKEA on a Sunday afternoon is packed. Wei and her boyfriend have been going back and forth in the sofa section for twenty minutes. Gray hides stains. Milk-tea beige looks nicer. Wei asks, “What do you think?” He's sitting on the beige one, running his hand along the armrest, and says, “Either is fine. Whatever you like.”

They buy the gray one. On the MRT home, he's scrolling his phone and stops on a photo of a beige sofa against a wooden floor. He looks at it for a long time, then puts his phone away and says nothing.

“Either is fine” saves them a lot of trouble

Libras in relationships say “either is fine,” “you decide,” and “I don't mind” a lot. What to eat, which movie, whose place this weekend: they almost always let you choose. At first you think, wow, this person is so easy to be with.

Over time, though, you notice there are several kinds of “either is fine.” One means they truly don't care. One means they have an opinion but are afraid it'll start a fight. And one means they've already given in so many times they don't bother anymore. All three sound exactly the same. Only their face gives away the difference.

They apologize before the argument is even over

Libras have a signature move in arguments: they apologize fast. You're halfway through a sentence and they're already saying, “Okay, okay, my bad.” On the surface it's over, but something feels off, because you still don't know what they actually think.

Sometimes the apology is sincere. Sometimes they just want the air to feel normal again. For them, a few hours of cold silence and sharp words are harder to bear than taking a small loss. So they'd rather lay down the peace offering first and figure out who was right later.

Why tension bothers them so much

Libra is ruled by Venus and longs for relationships that feel lovely and comfortable. Their ideal romance is two people speaking softly and getting along smoothly, like a freshly cleaned room. An argument is like someone throwing things on the floor, and their first instinct is to pick everything up and put the room back.

That makes them very considerate, and it also makes it easy for them to put their own preferences last. Eventually, in some tiny moment, they suddenly feel hurt. Maybe it's just because dinner was at your pick again, but the feeling has been building for a long time.

With a Libra, ask one layer deeper

If your partner is a Libra, when you hear “either is fine,” try asking, “If it were only up to you, which one would you pick?” Or give them two options and ask them to choose one. That way they feel safer sharing what they really think, without feeling like they're competing with you.

During an argument, when they rush to apologize, pause and say, “Thanks for meeting me halfway, but I want to hear how you see this.” Let them know disagreeing won't break the relationship, and they'll slowly learn to finish their thoughts.

If you're the Libra, practice with small things. Next time you order a drink, just say the flavor you want. When someone asks which movie, name one. After a couple of tries you'll find the other person is happy to go along with you, and nobody ended up fighting.

Byeol Bunny's bed was picked out by a friend and lined with the friend's favorite blue plaid. For two years he said it was great. Then one day at a market he saw a piece of soft yellow cloth and stood in front of the stall smiling for ages. He bought it and laid it over the pillow corner. When his friend visited, they said, “Now it actually looks like you.”
