Where Does a Libra's Money Go? Mostly to Pretty Things
Libras aren't reckless spenders, but when something lovely comes along it's hard to buy just one. Their budget is full of beauty and generosity.
On the last day of the department store anniversary sale, Wen was holding an oatmeal-colored sweater at the counter, ready to check out. The salesclerk said, “This one also comes in dusty blue. Buy two and get another 10% off.” She held both up in the mirror, hesitated for five seconds, and said, “Okay, I'll take both.”
On the MRT home, she opened her budgeting app, entered the amount, stared at the screen for a moment, and typed three words in the note field: “Investing in myself.”
Their money often goes toward making things look nice
Libras have a clear spending direction: making life look and feel better. Clothes, scented candles, a nice set of dishes, a restaurant with great vibes. These all make it easy for them to open their wallet. They'll ride an extra MRT stop for a beautifully designed café, or pay NT$100 more for a gift with gorgeous packaging.
They're not showing off. They genuinely feel that seeing beautiful things every day lifts their mood. Drinking coffee from a mug with a lovely glaze in the morning is, to them, a good start to the day.
“One more” often happens because they can't choose
The moment a Libra is most likely to overspend is when they're stuck between two options. Oatmeal looks great, so does dusty blue. Pick one and they worry they'll regret not getting the other, so they just take both. Online shopping is the same: the same bag sits in their cart in three colors for two weeks, and in the end two of them get checked out together.
This comes from Libra's nature. The scales are always comparing, and with Venus as their ruler, beautiful things are especially hard to turn down. When both sides are great, the scales won't settle, and spending becomes the quickest way out.
Generosity is a big line in their budget too
Another big expense for Libras is social. They'll organize a group gift for a coworker's birthday, bring a plant when a friend moves, and often say, “This one's on me” at dinner, or split the bill for everyone and quietly cover the extra change themselves.
They care about everyone having a good time and don't want money to make things awkward. So even when the month is already tight, they'll still say “Sure!” when friends suggest that pricey barbecue place. It's only when they check their account at the end of the month that they realize how much they've paid to keep the mood nice.
Two places to start managing money
Libras don't need to force themselves to be super frugal. What works better is setting a few spending rules. First, “just pick one.” When you love two colors, buy one and leave the other in your cart for three days. If you still really want it after three days, go for it. Usually, you'll find the urge has faded.
Second, set up two small funds, one for beautiful things and one for social stuff, and put a fixed amount in each month. When it's used up, wait for next month, and spend it guilt-free. That way they keep the joy of a lovely life without sighing at their bank account at month's end.
If you have a Libra friend and want to give them a gift, a small, high-quality item will win them over more than something big and ordinary. A well-designed pen or a bag of their favorite coffee beans, and they'll use it for ages and remember it came from you.
Last time Byeol Bunny went to the market, he only meant to buy one carrot. He came home with a ceramic bowl too, because he felt the carrot looked better in it. Did the carrot taste any sweeter that day? Byeol Bunny isn't quite sure, but he's been smiling a little more at every meal since.
